Glasgow: A medical student named Azkah Sardar has just made waves by becoming the first Scottish voice on Ring Video Doorbells. How cool is that?
She beat out 300 other hopefuls in a nationwide search to be the ‘Voice of the Nation.’ Now, her voice is part of Ring’s Quick Replies feature, which is like a friendly answering machine for your door.
Azkah recorded a special Scots language message that says, “We’re no in the noo, but haud on! Afore ye go it’d be pure dead brilliant if you’d leave a wee message. Haste ye back!” It’s such a fun way to greet visitors!
At just 23, she decided to audition after hearing about it on the radio. She stepped out of her comfort zone and wowed the judges, including radio DJ Edith Bowman, at the Silverburn Shopping Centre.
Azkah shared how much it means to her to be chosen, saying it’s a fantastic opportunity for Scotland to be represented in tech. She believes that regional accents deserve a spotlight, and it’s great to see a big brand like Ring taking that step.
Edith Bowman praised Azkah, saying she brought the energy and personality they were looking for. The Glasgow accent is one of many beautiful voices in Scotland, and they hope to hear it on doorbells all over the UK.
Ring’s research showed that people find the Scottish accent to be one of the friendliest, with many Scots feeling proud of its welcoming charm. It’s nice to see that recognized!
Dave Ward from Ring expressed excitement about featuring a Scottish voice, highlighting how Azkah’s warmth perfectly captures the spirit of Scottish accents. It’s a win for regional dialects!
