Glasgow: Police are searching for two burglars who targeted businesses during Storm Eowyn. They tried to break into Jeanie’s Coffee Shop, Hoolit Gifts, and Aspire Academy in Baillieston on January 24.

The suspects caused damage by smashing doors and breaking glass. They even pulled off sink taps but didn’t manage to steal anything. Unfortunately, the damage forced the businesses to close while police investigated.

Co-owner John Devaney of Jeanie’s Coffee Shop said they lost business on their busiest days. He described the scene when cleaners arrived to find the place in disarray. Forensics came in the next day, leaving him feeling shocked and angry.

Carole Waddell, co-owner of Hoolit, expressed her frustration. She said it’s low for burglars to take advantage of a bad situation. Baillieston councillor Kevin Lalley also spoke out, emphasizing how local businesses serve the community.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed they received reports of the break-ins around 6:20 PM on January 24. They are continuing their investigation.
