Girl Seriously Hurt After Being Hit by Transit Van While Riding Horse
A young girl was airlifted to the hospital after a serious accident involving a van and a horse in Cornwall

Cornwall: A young girl had a really tough day after a crash with a Ford Transit van while she was riding her horse. It all went down in Higher Treween, Altarnun, around 2:20 PM on Sunday, January 12. Emergency services rushed to the scene to help.
The eight-year-old girl got some serious injuries and had to be airlifted to the hospital. Sadly, the horse didn’t make it and had to be put to sleep right there by the vets. It’s just heartbreaking.
There was another girl, a 12-year-old, who was leading the horse, but thankfully she wasn’t hurt at all. The police have arrested a 61-year-old man from Launceston. He’s in custody for a bunch of things, including dangerous driving and not stopping after the crash.
Now, the police are asking anyone who saw what happened to come forward. If you have any dashcam footage or just saw the whole thing, they really want to hear from you.
Devon and Cornwall Police are urging witnesses to step up. They want to piece together what happened during that serious collision. The road was closed for a bit while they investigated but reopened around 4:15 PM.
