Southport: A heartbreaking story has come to light about a 12-year-old girl named Semina Halliwell. She tragically overdosed on her mom’s prescription pills after feeling like no one believed her when she reported a sexual assault.

Semina passed away on June 12, 2021, just three days after taking the tablets at home. Her mom, Rachel, shared that Semina was once a happy girl but started to struggle after starting high school.

In March 2021, Semina confided in her mom about the assault that had happened two months earlier. Rachel described how it completely changed Semina, saying it “destroyed her mentally, physically.”

After going to the police, Semina felt discouraged and withdrew her complaint. Rachel expressed her frustration, saying that telling a 12-year-old it would take years to go to court was just too much for her daughter to handle.

Things got worse for Semina as she faced bullying and violence after making her allegation. She wanted to pursue the case, feeling that enough was enough. Sadly, before she could be interviewed by the police, she took the pills.

Rachel recalled how Semina was overwhelmed by everything happening at school and home. She just couldn’t cope anymore. Semina’s brother found her after she took the pills, and she was rushed to the hospital but sadly passed away three days later.

A doctor mentioned that just days before her death, Semina asked if she was going to die and expressed regret about taking the pills, saying she just wanted to sleep for a bit.

Her family feels let down by the system that was supposed to protect her. The case has even caught the attention of Elon Musk, who called the situation “terrible” in response to Rachel’s post about her daughter.

The inquest is ongoing and is expected to last for a week. It’s a tough reminder of the importance of believing and supporting those who come forward with such serious allegations.
