Leeds: Another grey February day can make us feel low. But getting outside helps. Even if it’s cloudy, fresh air can lift your spirits. Plus, chatting and exercising with others makes it even better.
This was the vibe at Kirkstall Valley Farm’s recent open Saturday. Many first-time visitors and regular harvest share members came to help plant broad beans in the polytunnels. It was a great way to get involved and enjoy the outdoors.
After planting, Rhian, one of the farm’s growers, led a ‘Walk and Talk’ tour. She showed everyone the different vegetables growing in the fields and polytunnels. Rhian shared insights about the salad crops thriving in January.
To wrap up the day, everyone enjoyed a delicious ‘Bring and Share Lunch’. It was a perfect way to connect and celebrate the hard work. If you’re interested in volunteering or getting a weekly veg box, reach out to Jen at kvf.admin@kvdt.org.uk.
