Avignon: George North had an amazing home debut with Provence Rugby on Friday night. The fans really rolled out the red carpet for him.

After coming off the bench last week, he finally got to start against Grenoble. And guess who he was up against? Sam Davies, another Welsh international. Talk about a showdown!

The crowd was electric. They held up pictures of North and a massive Wales flag that said “Welcome George.” It was a sight to see at Stade Maurice David, which can hold nearly 9,000 fans.

North ended up winning the match 24-18, so he definitely got the bragging rights. He played the whole game alongside Izack Rodda, a Wallabies lock. It was a big win for his new team.

Davies, who’s had his share of caps for Wales, kicked a penalty early on but got a yellow card later for slowing down a quick penalty. He even scored a drop goal to give Grenoble a brief lead.

But in the last quarter, Grenoble lost their cool, and North’s teammate Jules Soulan kicked three penalties, sealing the win for Provence.

North didn’t score himself, but he made some key plays, including a crucial kick to clear danger late in the game. His face was everywhere in the stands!

With this win, Provence climbed to third place in the league, just behind Beziers and the top team, Grenoble. Exciting times ahead!
