Cardiff: Old pals Joanna Page and Wynne Evans are back on our screens with a new show called Wynne & Joanna: All at Sea. They’ll be sailing along the stunning Welsh coast, covering 200 miles from Cardiff to St Davids.
In this series, they’re joined by Skipper Wayne and Wynne’s dog, Ginny. They’ll stop at some cool spots, including Barry Island, where Gavin & Stacey was filmed, and Joanna’s hometown of Swansea. It’s a great chance for them to unwind and reconnect with their roots while having a blast.
Joanna calls the experience “life-changing.” She mentioned how freeing it felt to be out on the boat with a good friend, away from all her usual responsibilities. She got to learn new skills, like sailing and trying out water sports she never thought she’d do, like surfing and kayaking.
She said it was refreshing to be active and enjoy the sea air. It really helped her escape from everyday worries and reminded her of the fun side of life. Plus, Wynne, a MasterChef winner, cooked for her, and they enjoyed some lovely wine while spotting seals and swimming with puffins. Sounds like a dream, right?
Wynne chimed in, saying it was the most fun he’s ever had filming a show. They laughed their way through the entire series. Joanna, who recently returned to Barry Island for the Gavin & Stacey finale, shared how the experience helped her reconnect with her old self. She realized how easy it is to get caught up in responsibilities and forget to have fun.
She emphasized the importance of taking time for herself, whether it’s swimming or yoga, and not feeling guilty about it. It’s all about finding that balance and cherishing friendships. Wynne also highlighted how crucial it is to make time for each other and how his dog Ginny has been a great support during tough times.
The first episode airs on BBC One and BBC One Wales on January 27 at 8:30 PM. They’ll kick off their adventure from Cardiff Bay, visit a local rowing club, and of course, head to Barry Island for some classic fun. Over six episodes, they’ll explore Porthcawl, Swansea, St Davids, Pembrokeshire, and Carmarthenshire. Don’t miss Wynne & Joanna: All at Sea on BBC One, BBC One Wales, and iPlayer starting January 27!
