Gas leaks sees 500m cordon put in place as staff evacuated

Halewood: A gas leak caused quite a stir today. Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of a gas escape from an industrial site. They set up a 500-meter cordon around the area to keep everyone safe.

Police blocked off several roads, including Woodend Avenue and Hillfoot Avenue. While shops and homes nearby weren’t evacuated, residents had to park far away. It was a bit of a mess, with traffic all over the place.

One local said getting home was a real hassle. A police officer told him he couldn’t drive down Woodend, so he had to park miles away and walk. Another resident mentioned it took her an extra 25 minutes to get home because of the traffic.

James, who runs a grooming business, had to close early since customers couldn’t get through. Fire crews arrived quickly and worked with Cadent Gas to manage the situation. They confirmed that everything is under control now, but it’s a reminder to call the gas emergency service if anyone smells gas.
