Gary Neville praises three Man United players for doing something ‘not many players do’ at Anfield

Liverpool: Gary Neville was really impressed with how Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, and Bruno Fernandes played in that intense 2-2 draw at Anfield. He felt they really outshone Liverpool’s midfield.

United’s coach, Ruben Amorim, switched things up after their loss to Newcastle. He brought back Ugarte and Fernandes, who were suspended, and Mainoo, who had been on the bench. It was a smart move.

Ugarte and Mainoo teamed up in the middle, with Mazraoui and Dalot on the wings, while Fernandes played a bit further up. They had a tough job against Liverpool’s midfield trio, but they really stepped up.

Neville mentioned on his podcast that the team had to change after the Newcastle game. He was surprised by how well Ugarte and Mainoo performed, especially since they hadn’t been in great form lately.

He also thought Fernandes did a great job on the left side, which he initially saw as a risky move. But the way they controlled the ball was impressive, especially at Anfield, where it’s tough to do that.

Neville pointed out that taking the ball in that environment is no easy feat, especially against Liverpool’s midfield. He felt that while Mac Allister was strong, Gravenberch and Jones struggled against United’s trio.

In the end, Neville believed they outplayed Liverpool and managed to control the midfield, something he hasn’t seen many United teams do at Anfield. It was a solid performance all around.
