Douglas: It’s a sad time in the community as we remember Robert and Carolyn Watson, a couple who were loved by so many. They were married for over 60 years, and their bond was truly special.

Robert passed away on January 7, and Carolyn followed just a day later. They were the heart and soul of Watson’s Nurseries in Greeba, which started with Robert and his son Nick at the Glen Vine Garden Centre.

Carolyn ran a popular café called the ‘Grapevine’ there, known for her delicious cakes and treats. The family business moved to Greeba in the late ’80s, where it thrived.

Both Robert and Carolyn were active in the community. Robert served as chair of Marown Commissioners and judged local produce shows, while Carolyn supported Hospice and chaired the Douglas Hospice Committee.

A spokesperson from Watson’s Nurseries expressed their heartbreak but found comfort in knowing the couple is together again. They shared how Robert and Carolyn enjoyed life, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

They leave behind two sons, Nick and Simon, along with their extended family, including granddaughters Katie, Alice, Victoria, and Charlotte. The love they had for their family was evident in everything they did.

Social media has been flooded with tributes, with many sharing their fond memories of the couple. One person wrote about how lovely they were and how proud they were of their family. It’s clear that Robert and Carolyn touched many lives.

Another friend shared how they had become close over the years, highlighting Carolyn’s genuine interest in others. Their loss is deeply felt, and many are sending condolences to the family.
