Coolock: So, there was a big raid by the Gardai recently. Over 150 officers swooped in on a halting site because they were worried about a Traveller feud getting out of hand.

They had loads of Garda cars blocking traffic in north Dublin as they rushed to the scene. Apparently, there were fears that a gang might be hiding weapons for a potential attack. It sounds pretty serious, right?

Sources say there’s been a nasty feud brewing between rival groups in the Traveller community. The Gardai wanted to step in before things turned violent. They were also looking to hit the gang’s money laundering operations and disrupt their criminal activities.

One of the main targets is a well-known criminal with over 100 convictions. He’s currently facing serious charges, so they can’t name him just yet. This guy and his crew have been linked to burglaries and drug trafficking all over the country.

They’re quite notorious in the area and have connections to a big crime boss known as ‘Mr Big.’ During the searches, the Gardai found over €100,000 worth of suspected drugs, and they kept searching well into the day.

It was a massive operation, with elite teams from various units involved. They executed searches at 39 different properties, all aimed at tackling organized crime in Coolock and Raheny.

The Gardai said they were targeting several criminal gangs suspected of various crimes, including burglaries and drug trafficking. By the end of the day, they had seized weapons, illegal cannabis worth around €160,000, and a bunch of other valuable items.

They also arrested three men during the operation. One guy in his 20s was taken in under the Criminal Justice Act, while the other two had outstanding warrants.

It’s a wild situation, and it looks like the Gardai are really stepping up to tackle these issues head-on.
