Coffs Harbour: It’s a tough time for the Galway community as they mourn the loss of John Furey, who sadly passed away in Australia. He was just a lovely guy, known for his cheeky grin and quick wit.
John, from Doughiska, had been living in Coffs Harbour and died on December 18, 2024. His family back home is heartbroken, and they’re preparing to lay him to rest in Ireland.
This week, they’ll hold his requiem Mass at the Good Shepherd Church in Doughiska, and his ashes will be taken to Castlegar Cemetery. It’s a hard goodbye for everyone who knew him.
On RIP.ie, a heartfelt message shared by his family reads: “John will be sadly missed by his parents, Nora and Declan, along with all his family and friends.”
Friends from school have been sharing their memories, expressing their sadness over his passing. One wrote, “Sincere condolences to Declan, Nora, and the extended Furey family. A good friend from back in the days.”
Another friend reminisced, “I remember John from our school days. He was such a lovely guy with a cheeky grin.” It’s clear he touched many lives.
