Cardiff: So, there’s been some serious fallout from that e-bike crash that took the lives of two teenagers. Eleven more folks have been charged in connection with the riot that broke out afterward.
It all started on May 22, 2023, when 16-year-old Kyrees Sullivan and 15-year-old Harvey Evans crashed their e-bike. They were reportedly being followed by a police van just before the accident.
Things got really heated at the scene, and before anyone knew it, a riot erupted. It went on for hours, and unfortunately, a lot of people got hurt, including police officers.
There was a lot of damage too—cars were set on fire, and property was vandalized. Last year, 31 people were already charged, but now, with these new charges, it’s clear this situation is still unfolding.
Jenny Hopkins, the chief crown prosecutor, mentioned that the Crown Prosecution Service has given the green light for these new charges. She also reminded everyone that these cases are active, so it’s crucial to avoid any comments that could affect the trials.
The 11 new defendants are set to appear in court on January 22, 2025. It’s a tough situation all around, and everyone’s hoping for some justice for the families involved.
