Cork: Today was a tough day for everyone who knew Paula Canty. Her funeral took place at St John the Baptist Church in Kinsale. She was just 31 and had two young daughters. Sadly, she was found dead in her flat earlier this month, and it’s been a heartbreaking time for her family.

At the service, her loved ones gathered to remember her kind heart and good nature. Her mother, Sinead, and father, Paul, were there, along with her daughters, Alyisha and Aoibhe. It was a real family affair, with siblings and friends all coming together to support one another.

Fr. Robert Young spoke about the deep sadness Paula’s family is feeling. He reminded everyone that it’s not natural for a parent to lose a child, especially in such a tragic way. He acknowledged their pain and shared how heartbreaking it is to witness such grief.

Paula had her struggles, like many of us do, but Fr. Young highlighted her positive traits. She loved cooking, was artistic, and had a friendly nature. Symbols of her life were brought to the altar, including family photos and items that represented her passions, like flowers and sports clothing.

Her daughters even brought a makeup set to honor Paula’s love for beauty and artistry. After the service, she was laid to rest in St Patrick’s Cemetery in Nohoval, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. It was a day filled with memories, love, and a reminder of the light she brought into their lives.
