Ipswich: A beloved music spot in town is in need of some serious support. The Music Room, located on Wykes Bishop Street, is facing closure unless the community steps in to help.

New managers Charlie Ross, Darren Smith, and Aaron Buckland have launched a GoFundMe campaign to keep the venue alive. They want to make it easy for everyone to pitch in and save this local gem.

With a capacity of 400, The Music Room has been a key player in Ipswich’s music scene for years. The trio is also planning some fun events to raise funds, kicking off with an alternative DJ night on January 18 and a rock-karaoke night on January 25.

Mr. Smith mentioned that the schedule for 2025 is looking promising, featuring a mix of touring bands and popular tribute acts like Chop Suey! and Guns 2 Roses. They’re really committed to making this work but need financial help to keep the doors open.

He added that losing this venue would be a big blow to the town, as it holds so many memories for everyone. The Music Room just reopened on December 7 after a brief closure, and the new managers took over just two days later.

This venue has been a hub for grassroots music, hosting events like Bloodstock Festival M2TM and Black Parade Emo nights. It’s a place where music lovers come together, and it’s vital to keep it going.
