Greater Manchester, UK, School Closures, Icy Weather

Greater Manchester: Kids are having another rough day with school closures because of the icy weather. This morning, the region woke up to some seriously chilly temperatures.

After dealing with snow and flooding recently, the roads and sidewalks are pretty slippery today. The Met Office has even issued a yellow weather warning for ice until midday.

Plus, the UK Health Security Agency has put out a cold health alert for the North West, given the freezing temperatures we’ve been experiencing. Because of this, some schools in Greater Manchester are shutting their doors.

Bramhall High School in Stockport was one of the first to announce its closure, and students will be learning from home. They posted on Facebook saying, “Bramhall High is closed to both students and staff today.”

They added that despite the hard work of their site team since 4 am, the ice made it unsafe to open. Teachers will be setting work on Class Charts, and they thanked everyone for their understanding.

Other schools like Lymm High School near Warrington, Hawthorns SEND School in Tameside, and Burnley Brow Community School in Oldham are also closed due to the icy conditions.

Keep an eye out for updates, as this list of closures will be updated as more schools confirm their status.
