London: Most Premier League teams are scrambling for new players this January, but Fulham is in a pretty good spot. Since their return to the top tier in 2022, they’ve been smart with their signings, blending young talent with seasoned pros who’ve thrived under Marco Silva’s guidance.
Right now, Fulham is sitting comfortably in the top half of the table, so they’re not in a panic to make big changes. Still, there could be some movement in and out of the squad as the window opens.
While there aren’t any glaring gaps in the squad, adding another central midfielder could be a smart move, especially with clubs in Brazil eyeing Andreas Pereira. Plus, Harrison Reed hasn’t been getting much playtime lately, and club legend Tom Cairney’s contract is up in July, so his future is a bit uncertain.
They’ve got some solid players like Sander Berge and Sasa Lukic, but having another option in the midfield wouldn’t hurt.
If Reiss Nelson’s loan doesn’t turn into a permanent deal and Adama Traore leaves, they might need another winger, but that’s more of a summer issue. Also, with Marek Rodak moving to Saudi Arabia, it might be time to look for a new goalkeeper to challenge Bernd Leno.
There’s been talk about bringing in a striker, but that might not be fair to Raul Jimenez, who’s been having a great season so far.
On the potential signings list, Fulham is eyeing Brighton’s Evan Ferguson. They’re also interested in Nicholas Kuhn, who’s been impressing at Celtic, but any deal would likely cost a pretty penny. Plus, they’re still keeping an eye on Rayan Cherki from Lyon, whom they almost signed in the summer.
As for players leaving, Carlos Vinicius has been on the transfer list for a while, and the club would be happy to let him go if a decent offer comes in. Young winger Imani Lanquedoc is finishing up his loan in Finland and could be sent out again. They might also consider loans for other young talents like Martial Godo and 17-year-old Josh King, who just made his first Premier League start.
