Consett: Villa Real School just got a fantastic boost! They received a £57,000 donation from the Mark Benevolent Fund to buy a new minibus. The Mark Master Masons of Durham stepped in to help with the funding application.
This school is special. It caters to kids and young adults aged two to 19 who face severe learning difficulties, medical issues, and some even have autism or cerebral palsy.
Unfortunately, their old minibus was beyond repair, and getting a new one was pricey because it needed special features.
The Mark Master Masons reached out to their national fund, which is known for helping out worthy causes quickly.
Jill Bowes, the headteacher, expressed her gratitude, saying the minibus will help students with complex needs join in on activities and connect with the community, which is so important for their growth.
She added that it allows them to participate in volunteering and social projects that really help build their confidence.
At the official presentation event, members of the Mark Masons were there, along with Graeme Hutchinson from the Mark Benevolent Fund. He shared how happy they were to support such a positive initiative.
Mr. Hutchinson emphasized that this donation was made possible thanks to the ongoing support and generosity of the Mark Masons.
