Free virtual work experience course launched for those interested in trains

Manchester: TransPennine Express has rolled out a free virtual work experience program for anyone keen on a career in rail. It’s a cool opportunity to dive into what working with trains is all about.

They teamed up with Springpod to create this course, which gives a peek into various roles at TPE. You’ll learn about everything from making timetables to what it’s like to be a station assistant or work in onboard catering.

The course has eight modules packed with hands-on activities and key employability skills like teamwork and communication. Plus, you can go through the modules at your own pace, which is super convenient.

Nicola Buckley, TPE’s people director, mentioned that this course is perfect whether you’re just starting out, thinking about a career change, or just curious about the railway industry.

She emphasized that it’s designed to help build confidence and give you skills that are useful for applying to jobs, not just at TPE but in the wider rail industry too.

With TPE being the fastest-growing rail operator in the UK, they’re eager to create job opportunities in the communities they serve while providing reliable services across the North of England and Scotland.

The program is open to anyone aged 13 and up and will be available until May 5, 2025. Plus, you’ll get a certificate of completion, which is great for your CV or UCAS applications.
