Bottesford: A new barbershop has opened up, and it’s all about community vibes. Marie Goss, 55, is the proud owner of The Crown Barbershop on Queen Street.
She’s been in the hairdressing game for nearly 30 years, having spent 23 of those at RAF Wittering. But after moving to Bottesford three years ago, she decided it was time for a change.
Marie was tired of the long commute and wanted to be more connected to her new home. When she saw a spot available, she jumped at the chance to open her own place.
She shared, “I felt like I wasn’t connecting with the Vale because I was away from it. I wanted that connection with people.”
Leaving RAF Wittering wasn’t easy for her. She even received a commendation for her service there. But she believes she made the right choice.
Marie wants her barbershop to be a friendly space for everyone. “The area didn’t have a dedicated barbershop for men’s hair,” she explained. “I just felt it was needed here.”
Her shop will cater to all ages and styles, focusing mainly on men’s haircuts but also offering some services for women.
Marie emphasizes the social aspect of her work. She wants everyone to feel comfortable and safe while getting their hair done. “Building trust takes time, but I enjoy it,” she said.
She aims to create a traditional barbershop atmosphere, steering clear of the trendy, Instagram-focused places. “I just want to be known for good service and a welcoming vibe,” she added.
