MONTREAL: So, there’s this big trial going on about Gilbert Rozon, the guy behind Just for Laughs. A woman named Guylaine Courcelles is testifying against him, claiming he assaulted her back in 1987.
She says it all went down when she was just 22. They were supposed to talk about a job at his company, but things took a weird turn. Instead of a meeting, he suggested drinks and ended up taking her to his fancy home.
At first, everything seemed fine. They had some drinks and food, but then things got really uncomfortable. Courcelles said Rozon came into her room and made some unwanted advances. She was not having it, and he allegedly did something really inappropriate.
Now, she’s asking for $1.9 million in damages as part of a much bigger lawsuit involving nine women who are all accusing Rozon of similar things. The court’s got a lot to handle, with 77 witnesses lined up over the next few weeks.
This whole thing is being heard by Quebec Superior Court Justice Chantal Tremblay, and it’s expected to last until the end of March. It’s a pretty intense situation, and everyone’s watching closely.
