Portadown: So, there’s this old Chinese restaurant on Bridge Street that’s getting a makeover. They’re turning it into four apartments, which is pretty cool for the area.

From the front, it looks like a two-storey building, but surprise! It’s actually three storeys when you check it out from the back. The lower ground floor will be for storage, and you can access it from the rear.

Each of the first and second floors will have two one-bedroom apartments. Sounds cozy, right? Plus, there’s a nice outdoor space in the back, about 120 square meters, along with some parking spots.

They’re also planning to swap out the commercial windows on the ground floor for new rectangular ones, but they’ll keep the same style. ABC Planning officers think this change fits right in with the neighborhood.

They mentioned that the area has a mix of homes, shops, and community spots, so it won’t feel out of place. The building’s overall look will stay pretty much the same, just a few tweaks here and there.

It’s nice to see some development happening, especially when it means more housing options for folks in Portadown.
