Leeds: A football fan has been banned from attending any matches in the UK for three years after he hurled some really nasty comments at a woman working at the stadium.
This incident involved Dallas Woods, a 31-year-old Hull City supporter from Goole. It all went down at Elland Road during a match last April. He was at the bar when he decided to use some pretty offensive language.
After making those comments, he went back to his seat but returned to the bar later. That’s when stewards spotted him and had him removed. The police arrested him right there.
Woods admitted to using threatening words that could cause distress. He appeared in court and got a 12-month conditional discharge along with that three-year ban. Plus, he has to pay some costs and a victim surcharge.
After the hearing, a police chief made it clear that everyone deserves to work without facing such abusive language. He emphasized that women should feel safe at football matches, too.
Woods’ actions were described as distressing, and thankfully, the police acted quickly after the victim identified him. It’s a reminder that such behavior won’t be tolerated in sports.
