Five young offenders received prison sentences for a brutal transphobic attack on a woman in North London, highlighting ongoing issues of hate crimes.

Harrow: So, there was this really awful incident where five young people lured a transgender woman to a roller disco. Instead of having fun, they ended up viciously attacking her. It was brutal—she got stabbed nine times and was punched and kicked while they shouted transphobic slurs.
It’s heartbreaking to hear that she’s now living with serious scars and has trouble sleeping. Thankfully, some passersby jumped in to help her, or things could have been way worse. The whole thing happened back in February, and the attackers even bragged about it online later. Can you believe that?
The judge called the attack “abhorrent” and said it was driven by a twisted sense of revenge. Summer Betts-Ramsey, the one who did the stabbing, got eight and a half years in youth detention. The judge said she’s a danger to the public, which is pretty serious.
Three others, all 18, got three years in youth detention, while a 17-year-old boy received a rehabilitation order. It’s just so sad that this kind of hate still exists. The victim’s life has been turned upside down, and she’s dealing with panic attacks and fears about her future as a model.
It’s a tough reminder that we need to keep fighting against hate and support those who are targeted. Everyone deserves to feel safe, no matter who they are.
