Manchester: So, there’s been a lot of buzz about a nurse from Royal Oldham Hospital. Achamma Cherian, who goes by Asha, is the nurse at the center of an alleged attack. She’s finally back home after being discharged, which is a relief.
The incident happened on a Saturday night in the hospital’s acute medical unit. Asha, in her 50s, was reportedly stabbed with scissors. That’s just awful, right?
The NHS trust’s chief executive mentioned how distressing this whole situation has been for everyone involved. Thankfully, Asha is recovering at home now, which is good news.
Dr. Owen Williams, who runs the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, said the impact of this event has been significant for many staff members. They’re trying to provide as much support as they can.
As for the alleged attacker, Roman Haque, he’s been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He appeared in court recently but didn’t enter a plea. He’s currently in custody until his next hearing.
