County Durham: The County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service is on the lookout for new on-call firefighters, and guess what? You don’t need any prior experience! It’s a great opportunity for anyone interested in helping their community.
Over half of the firefighters in this service are on-call, meaning they balance their regular jobs with responding to emergencies. These folks could be anything from factory workers to students, all stepping up when the alarm rings.
When duty calls, they switch from their everyday roles to become lifesavers. To apply, you just need to live or work within five minutes of a fire station and be at least 17 years old.
The job is paid, and if you’re selected, you’ll get top-notch training to prepare you for the action. You’ll need to commit to at least 40 hours a week and join weekly drills to keep your skills sharp.
Watch manager Kieran Hughes shared that being a firefighter is unlike any other job. It requires dedication and resilience, but the rewards are huge. The service values the diverse backgrounds of its on-call firefighters, as they bring unique skills to the team.
They’re especially looking for recruits at stations in Stanhope, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Barnard Castle, and a few others. If you’re interested, you can find all the details about the stations and their drill nights on their website.
Applications are open now, so if you’re ready to make a difference, don’t hesitate to apply!
