White Township: A barn went up in flames on Wednesday morning, and it was a pretty big deal. The Indiana Fire Association got the call around 7:26 a.m. about the fire on Kauffman Road.
When the firefighters showed up, the fire was already massive. They had to call for backup, raising it to two alarms. It seems the fire had been burning for over an hour before someone passing by noticed it and reported it.
Sadly, a horse lost its life in the fire, and everything inside the barn was destroyed, according to the Creekside Volunteer Fire Company. Right now, they’re looking into what caused the fire, but they don’t think it was anything suspicious.
By around 9:45 a.m., the crews were able to start cleaning up the mess. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved, especially for the owners who lost so much.
