Peoria: A fire broke out on Saturday at a gym that was still being built. It caused around $200,000 in damage. Firefighters got the call around 10 a.m. about smoke coming from the site on Townline Road.

When they arrived, they saw light smoke coming from the large building. This gym is set to be the new home for Titan Fitness. The building owner was there and confirmed that everyone who had been working there was safe.

Fire crews found heavy smoke coming from a sauna in the bathroom area. They quickly opened it up and discovered that the fire had spread into the ceiling space. Luckily, they managed to put it out in about 15 minutes.

After the fire was under control, crews spent hours making sure all the smoke was cleared out and checking for any further fire spread. An investigator later determined that the fire was accidental, and thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Titan Fitness had plans to open this new $3.5 million gym by 2025, located behind Walmart on Allen Road. It’s a bummer that this happened, but at least everyone is okay.
