Fernhill Heath: The village is buzzing with excitement as talks are underway to finally get a community hall. Councillors have started discussions with a developer, which is a big step forward.

This parish, one of the largest in Wychavon District, has always been known for its strong community spirit. But, it’s been lacking a proper venue for events, which has been a real bummer.

Right now, they’re making do with a pop-up café that operates out of a gazebo or even from the home of Meg Farmer, the chair of the North Claines Parish Council. It’s a nice effort, but it’s not the same as having a dedicated space.

Daniel Birch, the local councillor, shared how crucial it is to secure a community space. He’s been out at the pop-up café with Meg and knows firsthand how much the village needs a proper home for gatherings.

The village has been on the hunt for a hub for years, whether it’s a café or a community hall. They just want a place where everyone can come together.

Now, discussions are in progress with Lioncourt Homes, and there’s hope that they can help make this dream a reality. The plan is to buy land next to a new housing development on Dilmore Lane for the hall.

Cllr Birch mentioned they’ve looked at several sites before, but nothing has worked out. They’re really hoping this time will be different.

In November, Cllr Farmer even reached out for help in finding a location. She emphasized how important it is for the community to have a heart, a place to gather and connect.

She’s determined to see this happen, saying, “With a community hall, we could do so much.” Let’s hope they get the support they need to make it happen!
