Spencer Dinwiddie Shines as a Starter in Fantasy Basketball
Spencer Dinwiddie steps up for Dallas, scoring 30 points as a starter
Dallas, Spencer Dinwiddie, Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic, NBA
Dallas: The Mavericks faced a tough game without Kyrie Irving, who was out with a shoulder injury. Luka Doncic is also sidelined for at least a month due to a hip issue. So, coach Jason Kidd had to look for new offensive options.
Enter Spencer Dinwiddie. He got his second straight start and really made it count, scoring 30 points and dishing out six assists in their loss to the Kings. With only two games left this week, it’s unclear if Irving will be back for the next game in Houston. But Dinwiddie has been solid, averaging 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in his four starts this season. He might not drop 30 every night, but he’s definitely worth considering for your fantasy lineup.
Then there’s Yves Missi from New Orleans. This rookie is making waves, setting a new career-high with five blocks on Monday. He’s still a bit undervalued in 9-cat leagues, but his role is secure. He might have some off nights, but when he’s on, he really shines. New Orleans has three more games this week, so keep an eye on him.
Scotty Pippen Jr. is another name to watch. With Ja Morant out for a bit, Pippen Jr. is stepping in as the starting point guard for Memphis. He’s been averaging 14.6 points and 6.2 assists in his starts. Memphis has three games this week, so he’s definitely worth a roster spot while Morant is out.
And don’t forget about Ja’Kobe Walter. With RJ Barrett out due to illness, Walter might get a chance to start. He recently scored a career-high 27 points, so he can definitely heat up from beyond the arc. If Barrett or Gradey Dick miss more games, Walter could be a sneaky pickup.
Lastly, Johnny Juzang got the start for the Jazz and scored 14 points in 23 minutes. It’s still up in the air whether he’ll keep starting, but with three games left this week, he could be worth a look in deeper leagues.
