Newton St Cyres: A family-owned restaurant is still trying to find a couple who allegedly dined and dashed. They left without paying an £83 bill, which is pretty frustrating.
This happened at Belluno, an Italian spot, on January 9. The owners felt they had no choice but to share CCTV images of the couple on Facebook. They want to warn other restaurants about them.
Apparently, the couple went outside for a smoke break around 10:10 PM and just didn’t come back. The restaurant staff were caught off guard since they had already finished their meal.
Yiannis, who was managing the restaurant, said they didn’t suspect anything at first. One of the staff members went out for a smoke and came back saying, “They’re gone.” It was a shock for everyone.
Now, a week later, the couple is still missing. Yiannis just wants to make sure everyone knows who they are if they ever show up again. The police have been informed about the situation.
In their Facebook post, the restaurant expressed their love for the community but also their disappointment. They understand times are tough, but stealing from a small business is just not right.
Local folks were shocked by the news and criticized the couple for hurting the restaurant. Some even suggested that the restaurant should start charging a deposit for meals. But Yiannis doesn’t want to punish loyal customers for the actions of a few.
He believes dining out should be a pleasant experience, not one filled with stress over payments. The police are still looking into the matter, and anyone with info is encouraged to reach out.
