Woking: The father and stepmother of Sara Sharif are looking to appeal their sentences for her murder. It’s heartbreaking to think about what that poor girl went through.
Sara, just 10 years old, suffered unimaginable pain at home. The trial revealed she was beaten, burned, and restrained. It’s just awful.
Urfan Sharif, her dad, got a life sentence with a minimum of 40 years, while Beinash Batool, her stepmom, received 33 years. Her uncle, Faisal Malik, was sentenced to 16 years for allowing her death.
Now, they’re all trying to appeal their sentences. It’s been reported that they’ve applied to the Court of Appeal. It’s a shocking turn of events.
Calls have also been made to name the judges involved in previous family court cases related to Sara. People want accountability, and it’s understandable.
Sara was found dead in her bunk bed on August 10, 2023. Her father called the police from Pakistan, admitting he had beaten her “too much.” It’s just gut-wrenching.
She had 71 fresh injuries, including broken bones and burns. It’s hard to even imagine the suffering she endured.
After her death, Urfan and Beinash quickly booked flights to Pakistan for the whole family, leaving the kids behind. They returned to the UK on September 13, just in time to be arrested.
During sentencing, the judge described Sara’s death as the result of years of neglect and torture. He made it clear that Urfan’s actions were driven by a twisted sense of discipline.
The judge also pointed out that Batool didn’t care enough to protect Sara. It’s just so tragic to think about how this little girl fought back against her abusers.
In a bizarre twist, Urfan was reportedly attacked in prison on New Year’s Day. It’s a wild situation, but it doesn’t change the fact that Sara’s story is one of deep sorrow.
