Family of Murdered Banker Disappointed by Chief Constable’s Refusal to Meet

Nairn: The family of Alistair Wilson, a banker who was tragically murdered back in 2004, is feeling really let down. They wanted to meet with Scotland’s top police officer, but it hasn’t happened yet.
Alistair was shot right at his doorstep after a man knocked and asked for him by name. It was a shocking crime that left his family in deep sorrow for years.
Recently, Fergus Ewing, a local MSP, spoke in Parliament about the family’s ongoing grief. He mentioned that they’ve been fighting for justice for two decades now.
During a meeting with Ewing, the family expressed their disappointment that Chief Constable Jo Farrell hasn’t agreed to meet with them to talk about the case.
Ewing made it clear that they really hope this situation can change. The family has already met with other important figures, like the Lord Advocate, who ordered a fresh look into the case.
They also had a chat with First Minister John Swinney, who promised to consider their concerns. Justice Secretary Angela Constance acknowledged the family’s unimaginable loss but said she wouldn’t push the chief constable to meet with them.
Conservative MSP Douglas Ross also weighed in, saying he doesn’t get why the chief constable won’t meet with the family. If other top officials can meet them, why not the police chief?
