Newport: A woman named Jackie Davies was hit by a car while walking her dog. Her family says they feel incredibly lucky she survived. The incident happened early Monday morning when a silver Volkswagen Passat veered off the road and crashed into a garden.

Jackie, 63, is now in stable condition after being taken to the hospital. She received help from emergency services and some quick-thinking locals, including nurses from a nearby care home.

Her family shared how tough this has been for them and urged anyone with information to reach out to Gwent Police. They’re really hoping to find out who did this.

In their statement, they expressed gratitude for the support they received. They mentioned that Jackie had to undergo surgery for her injuries, but thankfully, her dog Frisby only suffered minor injuries and is staying with family.

They also thanked the Welsh Air Ambulance, the fire service, and the police for their swift actions. The family was really touched by the outpouring of support from the community.

One local resident, Saul Evans, heard the crash and rushed to help. He described the scene and how he called for help. Two nurses and neighbors stayed with Jackie until the emergency services arrived.

Police are looking for a man named Ian Probert in connection with the hit-and-run. They’ve released his image and are asking anyone with information to come forward. Crimestoppers is even offering a reward for tips.

Gwent Police are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to get in touch. They want to make sure justice is served for Jackie and her dog.
