Banbury: A loo hire company is in a bit of a pickle after thieves made off with 13 portable toilets from their depot. They’re looking at a hefty £12,000 loss, which is no small change for a family-run business.

Amy Philpot, the general manager, shared that they’re not a big operation, just a family-run team with about 75 employees. She’s worried about the insurance claim and what it might mean for their other depots across the UK.

The break-in happened on January 8, and CCTV footage caught the whole thing. The thieves used angle grinders to break in and loaded the toilets onto two waiting vehicles while a third car kept watch. Talk about organized crime!

Luckily, it’s a quieter time for the business, so they have some time to replace the stolen toilets before the busy season kicks in. But Amy admitted she’s never seen anything like this before and it’s got her on edge.

She’s working with the police to track down the culprits, but she’s not holding her breath for a happy ending. It seems like this was a well-planned operation, and she’s worried it could spark a trend of toilet thefts.

“They knew what they were doing,” she said. “It’s a risk we face, but having your yard broken into is pretty rare.” After 35 years in the business, it’s frustrating to see hard work go to waste like this.

The Express has reached out to Thames Valley Police for more info on the situation.
