Predicted Drop in Child Poverty Rates for West Dunbartonshire
A new report predicts child poverty in West Dunbartonshire will decrease, thanks to effective Scottish policies.

The report predicts that child poverty in Scotland will fall from 23.7% to 21.8% by January 2029. This change is linked to initiatives like the Scottish Child Payment and the removal of the two-child benefit cap.
Meanwhile, child poverty is expected to rise in other parts of the UK. Clydebank MSP Marie McNair has welcomed this positive news.
She noted that the report highlights the benefits of SNP policies, especially the Scottish Child Payment, for children in Scotland, including those in Clydebank.
McNair emphasized that while there’s more work to do, it’s encouraging to see progress in reducing child poverty in their community. The SNP Scottish Government has made this issue a top priority.
