Atlanta: So, the Falcons just made a big move. They’ve decided to start rookie Michael Penix Jr. as their quarterback instead of Kirk Cousins. This comes right before their game against the Giants.
Coach Raheem Morris was pretty tight-lipped at first but then announced the change. Penix, who was picked eighth in the draft, is set to make his debut this Sunday. Morris said it was a football decision, and they’re focused on winning.
Before this, Morris had been backing Cousins, especially after a rough loss to the Vikings. But after a shaky win against the Raiders, it seems the team needed a fresh start. They’re currently sitting at 7-7 and still have a shot at the playoffs.
Cousins had a tough time lately, throwing two picks in that loss to Minnesota. He’s had his struggles since coming to Atlanta, and now it looks like the team is ready to see what Penix can do.
Penix hasn’t had much playing time yet, but he was a star in college. Now, he gets to show if he can handle the pressure of the NFL. The Falcons are hoping he can help them turn things around and make a playoff push.
