Henderson: A man with a skull face tattoo, Christopher McDonnell, just got hit with a 100-year prison sentence. This follows a wild 11-hour crime spree across Nevada and Arizona that left one person dead and several others hurt.
McDonnell, 32, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to a bunch of serious charges, including murder and attempted murder. He was part of a trio that went on a shooting rampage on Thanksgiving Day in 2020.
Along with his brother Shawn and Shawn’s wife Kayleigh, they targeted random people, firing shots at cars and even a 7-Eleven in Henderson. It was a chaotic scene, and sadly, Kevin Mendiola Jr., just 22, was killed during the attack.
Kevin was trying to protect his girlfriend when he was shot. Thankfully, she and his brother survived, but it was a traumatic experience for the family. They’re still dealing with the aftermath of that day.
Another victim, Seth Spangler, was shopping with his daughter and grandchild when he got hit. He described McDonnell as “Skeletor” because of his tattoos. It’s chilling to think about how close he came to losing his life that day.
As the chaos continued, the group even hit a police officer before their car flipped over in Arizona, leading to their arrest. McDonnell’s sentence means he won’t be eligible for parole until 2120, which is a long time.
While McDonnell got the maximum sentence, his brother and Lewis are still waiting for their trials. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved, and the pain from that day will linger for a long time.
