Extremely Dry Winter Pattern on the Way for B.C.

British Columbia is set to experience a significant shift to dry and sunny weather

British Columbia, Vancouver, Dry Weather, Sunny Conditions, January

Vancouver: We’re seeing a big change in British Columbia’s weather. After weeks of rain, it looks like we’re heading into a dry spell.

Western Canada is gearing up for a lot of sunshine and dry conditions. It’s a nice switch from the constant downpours we’ve had lately.

Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland have been drenched, with some places getting over 20 days of rain in a row. But that soggy pattern is about to change.

Starting mid-January, we can expect a flow of mild air from the Pacific. Some areas might even enjoy warmer-than-usual temperatures.

With this drier weather, we’ll see plenty of sunshine for at least the next week. Monday is looking especially bright, perfect for hitting the slopes with all the fresh snow.

This break is a relief, especially since January tends to be pretty dreary. Vancouver usually has around 18 to 19 rainy days this month.

While a few weather systems are on the way, they’re mostly bringing snow to the mountains without much moisture. So, we can expect those freezing levels to rise, often above 2000 meters.
