On January 18, 2022, the Greater Toronto Area experienced a thundersnow event. It was wild! Toronto got 55 cm of snow in just 15 hours, and some areas saw snowfall rates over 10 cm per hour.
4. January 18, 2020: St. John’s ‘Snowmageddon’
St. John’s, Newfoundland, had a day to remember on January 17, 2020, with 76.1 cm of snow falling in just one day. It was so bad that they declared a local state of emergency!
5. October 3, 2018: Calgary’s October Surprise
And let’s not forget Calgary on October 2, 2018. They had their snowiest day since 1981, with over 32 cm of snow. It was a real mess, with buses getting stuck all over the place!
