Sydney: It’s getting really hot out there! A total fire ban has been put in place for Sydney and the Hunter region this Friday. We’re talking temperatures hitting over 40C in some spots.

The city is gearing up for its hottest day of summer so far, with forecasts showing 37C for Sydney and a sizzling 41C in the western suburbs. The Hunter region isn’t escaping either, with Singleton, Maitland, and Cessnock expected to reach 41C.

People have been flocking to the beaches to cool off, but the NSW Rural Fire Service is taking no chances. They declared a total fire ban for the greater Sydney and Hunter areas due to the hot and windy conditions.

And it’s not just Sydney; the North Western and Northern Slopes regions are also under a fire ban, with temperatures soaring to 42C in Walgett and 39C in Tamworth and Gunnedah.

Residents are being urged to check their bushfire plans and make sure their properties are ready. With severe weather warnings in place, it’s a good idea to stay informed and avoid traveling through high-risk areas.

Parts of South Australia and Victoria have already faced dangerous fire conditions, but it looks like the heat is shifting back to northern and eastern NSW. So, stay safe and keep cool!
