Wolverhampton: Exciting news! The old Express and Star offices are getting a makeover. They’re turning the empty space into 38 new flats. The City of Wolverhampton Council just gave the thumbs up for this project.

These offices have been around for over 140 years, but they’ve been empty since the newspaper moved to Mander House in 2023. The plan includes one- and two-bedroom flats on the second and third floors. Plus, there’ll be a bar, restaurant, leisure space, a gym, and even some offices.

They’re calling it ‘The Newspaper Building’ now. The developers say this 82,000-square-foot project will not only bring in new homes but also create a lively community space. It’s all about supporting Wolverhampton’s growth as a business and cultural hub.

The team behind this project is local, with nearly 60 years of experience in construction and real estate. They’re passionate about giving back to the city that raised them. The council sees potential for up to 145 homes in this area over the next decade.

And it doesn’t stop there! The old print works will also be transformed into a beauty salon, barbershop, and café. It’s a big change for the area, especially since the Express and Star staff moved out just last year.
