West Midlands: So, there was this police officer who really messed up. He used his personal phone to message a woman he had just arrested. Not cool, right? The investigation found that if he hadn’t left the force, he would have been fired for it.

Apparently, he was commenting on her social media pictures and her looks. She thought those comments were totally out of line. They started when she was at home after her arrest and continued over WhatsApp. A panel looked into it and decided he breached a bunch of professional standards.

They said he would have been sacked if he was still on the job. The officer, who remains unnamed, clearly crossed a line. David Ford from the IOPC pointed out that police officers are trained not to get too personal with people they deal with, especially those who might be vulnerable.

When they interviewed him, he admitted that his messages were inappropriate. He knew he had crossed the boundary, and now he’s facing the music for it. It’s a reminder that there are rules for a reason, especially in law enforcement.
