Kyiv: An ex-Tory MP has left politics to join the Ukrainian International Legion. Jack Lopresti is now fighting against Putin’s invasion.
Lopresti, who lost his seat in July, will provide logistical support for Ukraine’s frontline forces. He previously served as deputy chair of the Conservative Party.
He has visited Ukraine before and advocated for more government support. After losing his seat, he returned to Ukraine in November to help a charity.
Now, he’s decided to volunteer for the Ukrainian military. He aims to use his skills in foreign relations, diplomacy, and veterans’ support.
Lopresti has military experience as a former corporal in the UK Army Reserve. He recently joined a UK Parliamentary delegation to Ukraine.
During his visit, he met military commanders and visited hospitals and rehabilitation centers. He believes he’s fighting for Ukraine and Europe.
He stated it’s an honor to serve and help the Ukrainian people. He emphasized that their fight is crucial for freedom and sovereignty.
Lopresti warned that if Putin wins, he won’t stop there. He stressed the need to defeat dictators to prevent global ramifications.
