Brighton: A former Labour MP, Ivor Caplin, has found himself in hot water after a sting operation by self-proclaimed paedophile hunters. They live-streamed the whole thing on Facebook, and it’s been making waves online.

Caplin, who served as the MP for Hove from 1997 to 2005, was arrested on a Saturday. Footage shows him, looking a bit out of sorts in a bright red hat and black top, being led away by police. It’s quite a sight, and the video has racked up thousands of views and comments.

According to Sussex Police, they’re aware of the footage and confirmed that a 66-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of engaging in sexual communication with a child. They’ve stated that this is an ongoing investigation, so things are still developing.

Caplin has denied all allegations against him. It’s worth noting that he was suspended from the Labour Party back in 2024, and he’s been adamant about his innocence.

During his political career, he held a couple of government roles, including a junior defence minister. It’s a shocking turn of events for someone who once held a position of power.
