Erith: It’s such a shame what happened at the Riverside Gardens. The new play equipment, which was supposed to be a big part of the park’s makeover, got vandalised. It’s really disappointing, especially since the park is set to open in spring 2025.
People in the area are being asked to help out. Witnesses are encouraged to come forward and share any information they might have about this awful act. It’s just so frustrating to see something meant to bring joy to the community get ruined.
Councillor Munur, who’s in charge of growth in Bexley, expressed how upsetting this is for everyone. He called it a senseless act of vandalism that only brings negativity to the community. He’s working with the police to catch whoever did this.
There are a lot of flats nearby, so he’s hoping someone saw something. The Riverside Gardens are going to be a lovely spot with new seating, a playground, an outdoor fitness area, and even a community gardening space. It’s all part of the Greater Erith programme, funded by the council and partners.
If anyone has any tips, they can email erith@bexley.gov.uk. Let’s hope they catch the person responsible!
