Exeter: So, here’s the scoop. Train services between Exeter and London are going to be a bit of a hassle this January. There’s some engineering work happening, and it’s going to affect travel plans.

On the weekends of January 18, 19, 25, and 26, trains will be revised and diverted. This means longer travel times, and some journeys might even start or end at Basingstoke instead of the usual stops.

South Western Railway is giving a heads-up to everyone. They’re saying to plan ahead if you’re traveling on those weekends. The maintenance work is happening in the Wimbledon area, which is a busy spot for trains.

Peter Williams from South Western Railway mentioned that there will be a lot of changes to services. They’ll have rail replacement buses on suburban routes, and long-distance services will be diverted, taking about 30 minutes longer than usual.

They’re really sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience. The work involves renewing around 800 meters of track and other essential upgrades to improve reliability and comfort for passengers.
