Blaenau Gwent: Big news! Halton Flamgard, an international engineering firm, just landed a sweet deal. They’re moving into a brand-new £8 million industrial unit built by the Welsh Government. This place is huge, covering over 52,000 square feet, and it’s going to help them more than double their workforce.
The company is shifting from a smaller site in Pontypool to this new spot, where they plan to grow their team from 70 to 168 employees in the next three years. They were bought by a Finnish group last year, and it looks like they’re ready to expand big time.
This new building is part of a larger £100 million initiative by the Welsh Government to boost the Tech Valleys area. They decided to invest here instead of backing another project in Ebbw Vale, and it seems to be paying off.
The property was listed at £6.50 per square foot, and it’s being marketed by Knight Frank, a property advisory firm. The Welsh Government is really pushing for high-quality jobs and skills development in the area, and this project fits right into that vision.
Rebecca Evans, the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy, and Planning, expressed her excitement about attracting Halton Flamgard. She believes this move will help the local economy and create more job opportunities.
Lucy Newman, the managing director at Halton Flamgard, shared her enthusiasm about the new facility. She sees it as a major step forward for the company and is looking forward to the innovation and collaboration it will bring.
John Morgan from the Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council also chimed in, saying this project is fantastic news for the community. He highlighted the strong partnerships that made this possible and the importance of investing in local business growth.
Neil Francis from Knight Frank noted that the Welsh Government’s confidence in developing this building has really paid off. The modern design and great location have attracted a lot of interest, and they’re thrilled that Halton Flamgard has signed on.
It’s an exciting time for Blaenau Gwent, and everyone’s looking forward to seeing how this new development will benefit the community.
