Calgary: So, Enbridge is getting ready to ramp up its oil pipeline capacity. They’re looking to take advantage of a drilling boom if Trump’s administration kicks in.

The CEO, Greg Ebel, mentioned they could move a lot more oil—like several hundred thousand barrels a day—by optimizing what they already have. They’re thinking about using techniques like looped sections and drag-reducing agents.

Enbridge already moves about 5.8 million barrels of crude and liquids daily across North America. They want to focus on getting more oil from the Rockies and Bakken regions to refineries in the Midwest and Gulf Coast.

Interestingly, this news comes right after they announced plans to transport more Canadian crude from Alberta into the US. Ebel believes a pipeline expansion would be appealing to an administration keen on showcasing US power globally.

However, there are concerns about Trump’s proposed tariffs on Canadian goods, which could complicate things for the interconnected oil infrastructure. Ebel is unsure if these tariffs will hit Canadian oil and gas, but they’re preparing for different scenarios.

They’re also eyeing the completion of the Line 5 oil pipeline, which has faced delays due to opposition in Michigan. Ebel thinks this is a big opportunity that the new administration would want to tackle, especially to boost American energy dominance.
