North Avoca: A fundraiser has kicked off for the family of 15-year-old Luca Bennett, who went missing after being swept off the rocks at a beach on Christmas Eve. He was hanging out with friends when a wave hit them, and while his friends managed to get out, Luca didn’t make it back.
Search teams have been working hard since Tuesday, but sadly, it’s now turned into a recovery mission. The family is understandably heartbroken, and a fundraiser has been set up to help ease their financial worries during this tough time.
Emma Power, who’s organizing the fundraiser, shared how grateful the family is for all the love and support from the community. She mentioned that they’re trying to cope together and just want to bring Luca home.
As of Friday afternoon, the campaign has raised over $75,000, smashing its original goal of $50,000. One donor expressed their sorrow, saying they were devastated by Luca’s tragic loss.
As the search efforts were scaled back, tributes poured in for Luca, who was known to be a talented basketball player and a student at The Scots College. Emma described him as a friend to many, with a bright smile and a contagious laugh.
Everyone who knew Luca loved being around him, and he always made people feel good. If anyone has any information about his whereabouts, they’re encouraged to reach out.
